COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council on Monday night is scheduled to consider a request from City Manager Keith Baker that the city adopt a gift and donation acceptance policy.
The city currently does not have an official policy on the books.
Baker says in a memo to the Council that the purpose for such a policy is to establish a process for acceptance and documentation of donations and gifts made to the city.
Under terms of the proposed policy, donations deemed to be in the best interest of the city and are for the public use would only be accepted. It also calls for the City Council to not approve donations that are considered offensive, controversial or morally questionable.
Also on a light agenda for Monday will be a request for the city to take part in the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s Redevelopment Ready Communities program.
