COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The intersection of State Road and North Michigan Avenue will become a four way stop intersection starting on Monday as final signage, rumble strips and pavement markings will be installed.
The Branch County Road Commission recently decided to make the intersection a four way stop due to the number and severity of accidents that have taken place there over the past five years.
Road Commission Engineer Garrett Mylan recently conducted a traffic study which found nearly 20 accidents have taken place at Michigan and State in the last five years.
Currently, only traffic on Michigan has to stop at the intersection.
The Road Commission also decided recently to pursue state grants which would be used to turn the intersection into a traffic circle. If everything works out, that could happen in about three years.
