COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A woman who led police on a car chase on the west side of Coldwater back in June was sentenced Monday in Branch County Circuit Court.
37-year-old Stephanie Nichols of Coldwater entered a guilty plea to a charge of assaulting, resisting and obstructing a police officer. In exchange for the plea, prosecutors dropped three other charges against her.
She was put on probation for 18 months and given a nine month jail sentence with all time over six months suspended.
Nichols was given credit for 103 days already served in the Branch County Jail.
There were no injuries during the half hour incident, which included Nichols trying to run away from a police officer before finally being taken into custody while she tried to hide in the backyard of a home near Henry and Orchard Streets.
Nichols admitted to police she tried to outrun the patrol car because of outstanding child support warrants.
