COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Coalition Against Domestic Violence will be celebrating 34 years of service during an open house Wednesday, October 11 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Naomi Davis Shelterhouse on North Michigan Avenue.
They will be showing off their new playground during the open house.
The building of the playground is scheduled for October 6 and 7. Volunteers are needed for its construction. If you can help out, call the shelter at 278-7233.
The project at the Shelterhouse was spearheaded by the Coldwater Township Sunrise Rotary Club and the building of the playground was launched through the generosity of Hal Creal, one of the founders of the Club thirty years ago.
Creal was also the impetus for the Club’s original involvement in the Shelterhouse with his donation of the house and the land for the facility.
In one of his last acts before he recently passed away, Creal committed to a gift of $12,500 to the playground project.
