COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners decided during their work session Thursday to spend no more than $13,000 on immediate repairs to the County Courthouse elevator, which has been out of order for a week.
The money will come out of the Capital Outlay/Contingency fund.
County Administrator Bud Norman said the elevator being out has been an hassle, especially with a jury trial this week in Circuit Court.
The elevator has been out of service because the doors won’t open and close.
It’s hoped the elevator will be back in service in a couple of weeks.
$32,000 had been originally set aside in Capital Outlays/Contingency for elevator repairs. The remainder of the money for repairs will be spread out in budgets over the next two years.
The allocation for elevator repairs leaves just over $21,000 in the capital outlays and contingency fund for the rest of this year.
