COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – How soon will the power be back? It might not be until late Sunday afternoon for the city of Coldwater.
Large portions of Branch County, including the city of Coldwater, remain without power Sunday. .
Coldwater Board of Public Utilities officials say a major transmission line feeding the city, as well as a portion of the county south of Coldwater, failed during a thunderstorm and high winds Saturday evening around 8:30 p.m. Consumers Energy controls and maintains that transmission line.
Consumers Energy originally told city officials that power might be restored late Saturday night. A revised estimate issued by Consumers pushd that time back to 1:45 p.m. Sunday afternoon. Later in the morning, they pushed the estimated restoration time back to between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Sunday.
The restoration time for scattered pockets of outages near Bronson and Union City is now put at 11:30 p.m. Sunday.
