FREMONT, IN (WTVB) – An Angola woman has been charged with attempted murder after a Fremont man was shot early Monday morning.
Steuben County Sheriff’s Deputies discovered 50-year-old Douglas Wayne Richter was suffering from gun shot wounds after 911 dispatchers got a call about a person being shot at 4375 East 300 North near Fremont.
Richter was taken to a Fort Wayne Hospital via ambulance where he was listed in serious but stable condition.
34-year-old Heather Michelle Garr was later taken into custody at home following a Sheriff’s Department investigation.
Garr was being held without bond at the Steuben County Jail and was expected to have a preliminary court appearance on Tuesday.
The circumstances leading up to the shooting have not been released. The case remains under investigation.
