COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In the inaugural season finale, the Legg Middle School eighth grade football squad fell to Jackson Northwest 36-18. The Coldwater scores came on a 46 yard run by Cole Barker, a five yard run by Owen Tom and a 70 yard kickoff return by Brock Thornton. The 8th grade team finished their season at 3-3.
It was all Cardinals in the 7th grade game as Legg defeated Jackson Northwest 36-0. Elijah Sloan opened the scoring on a 3 yard run and scored a second one from 35 yards out. Cameron Torres ran one in from 22 yards out and scored a second TD on a 45 yard pass from Chase Sunderland. Sunderland added a second 45 yard TD pass to Hunter Munson, and 2 point conversions were tallied by Torres and Aiden Stepp to close out the scoring.
The 7th grade team closed out with a 3-3 record as well.
The Legg Middle School 8th grade girls volleyball A team lost to Jackson Lumen Christi 2-0 (22-25 17-25). Leah Goodwin lead on the serving line 9 points with 3 aces. Brooke Moore and Mallory Wilber each had 5 kills. Camilla Boston and Masyn Marsh each had 2 points on the serving line. Jayla Foster had 2 kills. The team will host Jackson Northwest on Thursday.
The Legg Middle School 8th grade B girl volleyball team defeated Lumen Christi 2-0 (25-23, 25-21). Stiffany Villanueva had 3 aces, Trish Pike added 4 aces, 3 kills and 1 assist while Bethany Pavlov had 8 aces, 4 kills, and 2 assists. The girls are hosting Northwestern this Thursday at Coldwater High School at 4:30pm.
The Legg Middle School 7th grade A volleyball team improved to 5-7 as they defeated Lumen Christi 2-1. Kendall Sufranski was 19 for 19 on the service line.
The 7th grade B team lost all three sets 22-25, 21-25, and 4-15.The team was lead by Roselyn Ramos who scored 8 service points including 6 aces. Chloe Vickers, Paige Lawson, and Harper Mueller-Michael each chipped in 6 services points including 2,4, and 3 aces respectivley. The Cardinals will face Jackson Northwest Thusday night at Coldwater High School.
