COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – For the first time since 2014, Branch County will have three teams in the MHSAA Football Playoffs.
Coldwater, Union City and Quincy will all play on the road in the opening round next weekend.
In Division Three, Coldwater will get a rematch at undefeated Harper Creek Friday at 7:00 p.m. Harper Creek used a 95 yard return on the opening kickoff of the game October 13 as they defeated the Cardinals. The Beavers went on to win the Interstate 8 title.
Coldwater defeated Harper Creek in the first round of the playoffs last season.
The winner of the Coldwater-Harper Creek game will get either St. Joseph or Stevensville-Lakeshore in the second round.
Union City will also have a rematch in the opening round as they’ll play at Big 8 Conference champion Reading. Both teams went 7-2. Reading defeated Union City 36-12 at Alumni Field on September 29th.
The winner of the Union City-Reading game will face either Homer or Cassopolis in the second round.
Quincy’s 5-4 record was good enough to get into the Division 6 Playoffs thanks to their computer point ranking. They will play at 7-1 Jackson Lumen Christi in the opening round. The winner gets either Hillsdale or Michigan Center in the second round.
