COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – An alleged sexual assault on a minor teenage female in Branch County more than 2 years ago has brought the arrest of a 23-year old suspect from Portage. Adam Lee Halsey turned himself in yesterday morning in Coldwater and was booked at the Branch County Jail. He was arraigned in District Court on two counts of third degree criminal sexual conduct.
The reported victim in the case was 14 years old when the alleged crime happened in June 2015 in Sherwood Township. Michigan State Police say the juvenile and the suspect had sexual intercourse and the complaint filed on the alleged assault was made by the victim’s grandmother.
The Branch County Prosecutor’s office signed the warrant sought by Michigan State Police October 11, 2017. Halsey remains behind bars, being held on a $50,000 cash or surety bond. His next court date for a probable cause hearing is October 31, 2017.
