JACKSON, MI (WTVB) – This is Michigan Carbon Monoxide Safety and Awareness Week and Consumers Energy, along with DTE Energy, are issuing several safety reminders especially now that we are getting into the heating season.
If you experience symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning, get out of your building immediately, call 9-1-1 and stay out until the problem has been corrected.
Carbon monoxide alarms are often combined with smoke alarms and can be bought at hardware and grocery stores.
Also make sure your gas appliances are operating and venting properly. A yearly inspection is recommended.
