OVID TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Michigan State Police say there was a drunk driving rollover injury accident last night on I-69 south of Coldwater in Branch County’s Ovid Township.
Troopers say the crash that was reported around 10:20 p.m. happened in the southbound lanes of the highway near Warren Road. According to State Police, the 22-year old driver who was alone in his car suffered a fractured elbow and head lacerations in the accident. He was treated and released from the Community Health Center of Branch County and then booked at the county jail, where troopers say they found suspected meth in his pocket. A test confirmed the drug was methamphetamine and possession of meth was added to the OUIL charge that the driver is expected to face when he’s arraigned in District Court.
State Police say the man had been arrested just last weekend by Quincy Village Police for suspected drunk driving so the bond he posted that allowed him to be released from jail on that charge was revoked last night. He won’t be driving again anytime soon also because his car was totaled in the wreck. Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Lakeland Fire Department and Life Care Ambulance.
