BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson Vikings will be trying to win their third straight MHSAA Class C state championship Saturday afternoon at Kellogg Arena after they dispatched Calumet 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-13) in a semifinal match that only took 56 minutes to play. It was the second straight year the Vikings have beaten Calumet in the semis.
Keona Salesman had 16 kills for the Vikings while Ashton Wronikowski had 11 kills and Kiana Mayer had 36 assists. Paris Outwater and Adyson Lasky both had three aces. Lasky was our McDonald’s Player of the Match as she led the Vikings in digs with 13 while Kiera Lasky had 12 digs.
Bronson will face Laingsburg at 12:00 noon today after they defeated Wixom St. Catherine 3-1 (24-26, 25-23, 25-13, 25-23). WTVB’s coverage will start at around 11:45 a.m.

—MHSAA GIRLS SWIMMING—
On the first day of the MHSAA Division 2 Lower Peninsula Girls Swimming Finals at the Holland Aquatic Center, Coldwater’s Jayda Kelly was the final qualifier in the 50 yard freestyle during prelims, finishing 16th with a time of 24.78 seconds. She becomes the first Coldwater swimmer to ever make it to the girls finals. The top sixteen in each event advance to Saturday’s final round.

Coldwater’s Jonathan Brownell will be honored Saturday night along with other members of the Division Two All-State boys soccer team by the Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association.
They will be honored during the association’s banquet and Hall of Fame induction at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Lansing.
