ATHENS, MI (WTVB) – Lighthouse Funeral and Cremation Services of Union City says the building which used to be the Spencer Funeral Home in Athens is completely down and most of the materials have been hauled away.
Knowles Excavating began tearing down the building November 15, 2017.
The next step is getting all of the concrete broken up and loaded into trucks. The plan is to pour footings for the new building next week.
A new event and banquet hall will eventually be built on the site, which will be known as The Lighthouse of Athens.
