COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The case of a man who was tazed by Coldwater City Police during a struggle November 11, 2017 has been bound over to Branch County Circuit Court.
20-year old Devon Barnett of Hillsdale is facing three counts of resisting and obstructing a police officer as well as a charge of possession of methamphetamine.
The confrontation took place two hours after a traffic stop was made on a car Barnett was driving on U.S. 12 near Pierson Street.
Officers said he and a woman passenger were not truthful about the information they provided.
The two suspects were outside a home on Munson Street when police arrived later that night. Police say Barnett fought with officers and was eventually subdued and taken into custody.
Barnett has a previous meth conviction in Hillsdale County. He is being held on a $60,000 bond.
A pre-trial conference in Branch County Circuit Court has been scheduled for December 4, 2017.
