COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners Tuesday approved an employee insurance plan for 2018 on a 4-0 vote that calls for the county to maintain a Hard Cap option and phase in an 80/20 plan over the next five years.
It was one of four options being considered by the county.
County Administrator Bud Norman said the option which was chosen by commissioners would lessen the impact on employees.
Commissioner Don Vrablic also felt it was the best option but he acknowledged the county can not keep up with the private sector in terms of wages and some benefits.
In other business, tcommissioners approved a $2,200 purchase of a Assisted Listening System for the Branch County District Courtroom. The money is already in the court’s budget for this purchase.
Nominations for positions for various boards and committees were also made. Formal action will be taken next month.
