COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater Board of Public Utilities Director Jeff Budd says the Coldwater area must push forward with growth or it will move backward and be left behind while the economy continues to improve.
Coldwater’s former city manager, who became director of the Board of Public Utilities two months ago, was the guest speaker at the November 30 meeting of the Coldwater Township Sunrise Rotary Club.
Budd told Rotarians that with the $250 million Clemens Food Group pork production facility opening this fall on Coldwater’s north side with 800 jobs, he’s heard some in the community say enough is enough with the economic growth. Budd said the CBPU has made utility infrastructure improvements and additions totaling $30 million, including a significant portion related to the Clemens facility locating here.
Much of the rest of the improvements were needed because of water pipes installed during the 1930’s and a water and wastewater treatment system that hasn’t seen expansion since 1950.
