COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A man who is a facing theft, drug and weapons charges was arraigned Thursday in Branch County District Court.
33-year-old Aaron Loffer is being held on a total bond of $250,000 in three cases. Loffer is facing three charges of unlawful driving away of a motor vehicle, operating and maintaining a methamphetamine lab, fourth degree arson and felony firearm.
Prosecutors have also filed a fourth offense habitual offender sentencing enhancer against Loffer.
Loffer was booked at the Branch County Jail Wednesday after he was extradited from Steuben County, Indiana.
He was captured in Angola last January following a police search in two states. Steuben County prosecutors filed five counts of theft against Loffer on after his capture.
His alleged crimes took place between December 2015 and January 2017.
Branch County warrants in the three cases were filed between March and June.
The arson count against Loffer involved the burning of a stolen pickup truck. It was taken from a barn on Hamman Road in California Township on December 28, 2016 and found burning by the Michigan State Police five days later on Whipple Road near Barry Road.
Loffer was also allegedly involved in the theft of a pickup truck from a residence on Gilead Shores Drive which was later found at the BP station on North Baker Road in Steuben County.
