COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – There was a report of a hit and run pedestrian traffic accident in Coldwater Township last night with Michigan State Police investigating the incident that was called into 911 around 7:00 p.m. Coldwater City Police were initially assigned to the case since Branch County Central Dispatch was notified about the situation from a location in the city on Garfield Road near the Fairview Estates Mobile Home Park.
According to City Police, a woman told 911 a vehicle had struck her sister and didn’t stop.
Coldwater Fire Department first responders and Life Care Ambulance responded to the scene and the injured female was transported to the Community Health Center of Branch County.
When she was released from the hospital at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, police were notified that the woman needed a ride home. The officer who was taking her back to her Garfield Road residence said there was a language barrier with the Hispanic woman, but he was able to discern that the reported accident, according to the victim, actually occurred north of Coldwater in Coldwater Township on Michigan Avenue near Newton Road.
