COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – There will a change in Branch County Probate Court after the first of the year.
Juvenile Unit Administrator and Referee John Howard will be retiring in February 2018.
Probate Court Judge Kirk Kashian says in a memo to the Branch County Board of Commissioners that he has been advised by the Michigan Court Administrators Office that Howard was “grandfathered” into his position and that the position should be filled with an attorney.
Kashian says they could be looking into reclassifying the position to make it consistent with an attorney taking over.
Howard is retiring after nearly 40 years of service to Branch County.
