STURGIS, MI (WTVB) – Sturgis Police say a dramatic rescue had to take place late Wednesday night after a car rolled down a 50-foot embankment into an inaccessible location with the driver pinned inside.
The crash took place near Big Hill Road and the old railroad tracks in Sturgis.
Rescuers had a tough time getting to the vehicle because of deep snow and the location. Carrying heavy rescue gear to the crash site made the rescue even tougher.
It took an hour to roll the vehicle and free the victim’s arm, which had been pinned between the vehicle and the tree it was resting against on its side.
The unidentified victim was carried up a snowy slope and taken to Sturgis Hospital. Police have not released the condition of the accident victim.
