COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Black ice led to slippery roads and numerous property damage crashes on Tuesday morning around the area.
The National Weather Service says although air temperatures were in the mid to upper 30s, road temperatures were still below freezing.
Black ice looks like wet pavement but it is very hard to see in the dark.
Drivers were told to slow down and allow extra time for travel.
The black ice forced Colon schools to delay the start of classes for two hours.
At least four property damage accidents were reported in Branch County between 6:00 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.
