COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The end of the year will also mean the end of Lakeland Correctional Facility Warden Bonita Hoffner’s career with the Michigan Department of Corrections.
Hoffner will be retiring after 32 years with the department. She started as a psychologist at the former Florence Crane Correctional Facility in Coldwater in 1985.
She was named administrative assistant at Lakeland in 1988 and assistant deputy warden at the prison in 1994.
Hoffner became a deputy warden a year later as was named warden in May 2012.
During her time as warden, Hoffner served as the chairperson for the Michigan Corrections Officer Training Council and was involved in Lakeland’s rescue dog training programs.
