COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council meets for the final time of 2017 Wednesday evening.
The Council is scheduled to take action on a request from City Manager Keith Baker to release a $10.9 million performance bond that was required by the City of Coldwater from the Clemens Food Group to ensure the company met its obligation for the Community Development Block Grant funding from the State of Michigan.
Baker says in a letter to Council members that the City is the actual grantee and is responsible for the $12.5 million incentive package from the state. He added that as of December 17, 2017, Clemens is employing 831 team members and Clemens has invested over $300 million in the facility on Newton Road, which opened for business in September.
The Council will be asked to approve and authorize the signature of a bond release letter.
Council members will also be asked to approve consolidating quitclaim deeds for the Community Health Center of Branch County and Branch County Building Authority. ProMedica of Toledo will be taking over operations at the hospital on New Year’s Day.
In addition, following action by the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities board last week, the Council will be asked to set the rates for Skitter TV, which is scheduled to go on line next month.
