COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The temperatures on Friday morning were downright balmy compared to the last couple of mornings.
The low temperature overnight at the Branch County Memorial Airport was eight above zero. That was much warmer than the record low temperatures of 10 below Wednesday morning and 11 below Thursday.
Temperatures around southwest Michigan managed to get into double digits on Friday morning but National Weather Service forecasters say another blast of arctic air will be moving in over the New Year’s holiday weekend.
We could see some of the coldest temperatures of season from this latest arctic blast.
Forecasters are calling for overnight lows to drop below zero for three straight nights starting on New Year’s Eve.
With even the slightest wind, wind chills will drop to near 15 to 20 degrees below zero.
