COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The holidays are over and now comes the grim reality of a long, cold and bitter winter.
The big chill which has lasted for a week will linger through the first week of 2018 before temperatures start to moderate on this weekend.
Overnight low temperatures at the Branch County Memorial Airport hovered just above zero.
Cold temperatures and gusty winds have prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Wind Chill Advisory until 1:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
Very cold wind chills of as low as 25 below zero are expected. The cold wind chills will cause frostbite in as little as 30 minutes to exposed skin.
Forecasters say another round of lake effect snow is expected Tuesday night into Wednesday, with another storm system with more snow possible by the weekend.
