COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – It will be two to three weeks before repairs can be made to a cell which was damaged due to a major water leak at the Branch County Jail during the New Years holiday weekend.
Branch County Complex Manager Scott Walls told the Branch County Board of Commissioners Thursday that he hopes to keep the costs down by using inmates and his workers to make the repairs. Walls says they have no idea when the underground water line broke.
Walls said he was told by prisoners after the leak was patched that the water pressure increased in the showers, which would indicate the line had been leaking for quite a while.
The cell houses six prisoners and Sheriff John Pollack said they will have to made do.
Pollock said there were no injuries and no incidents while the water leak was being repaired.
The leak was discovered at about 3:30 p.m. last Friday and was finally repaired at about 8:30 a.m. on Sunday morning.
