COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Many area high school basketball teams get back into action this evening following the holiday break.
Both of the Coldwater hoop squads resume Interstate 8 play at Jackson Northwest. The Coldwater boys are 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference while Northwest has dropped four straight by seven points or less after winning their opening game against Adrian.
The Coldwater girls team is expected to face a tough test in the opening game of the varsity girls/boys doubleheader. Coldwater is 8-0 overall and 2-0 in the Interstate 8 while Northwest is 5-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference.

In the underclassmen games between Coldwater and Northwest Thursday, the Coldwater JV girls lost 72-25. Mia Rzepka had 10 points Coldwater while Bailey Burkhardt had seven rebounds.
The Coldwater freshman girls won 43-26. Alyssa Bach had 13 points, seven rebounds, six steals and three assists for Coldwater while Abby Herman had 11 points and nine rebounds. Madison Beckhusen had five assists.
The Coldwater J.V. boys team lost 45-34 as their record dropped to 0-4. Leading scorers for Coldwater were Jaxon Junusz with 10 points, Noah Waterbury with 8 and Grey Skudlarick with 5. Tyler Scherer had 12 rebounds.
The Coldwater freshman boys improved to 1-3 with a 49-46 win. Deandre Douglas led the Cardinals with 17 points while Kolby Wagner pitched in with 11.

A full slate of girls/boys varsity doubleheaders are on tap In the Big 8 Conference for this evening. Union City will host Jonesville while Bronson will be at Concord and Quincy travels to Reading. In addition, Springport will be at Homer.
Jonesville defeated Union City 53-34 in the boys JV game Thursday. Brandon Roberts led the Chargers with nine points.
Also in girls basketball tonight, Tekonsha plays at Pittsford.
