COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man must pay over $12,000 in restitution after he was sentenced Monday in Branch County Circuit Court on three charges.
29-year-old Joshua Tyler Martin entered guilty pleas to charges of fleeing from a police officer fourth offense, receiving and concealing stolen property over $1,000 but less than $20,000 and third degree home invasion.
All other current and pending charges were dismissed by prosecutors in exchange for the guilty pleas.
Martin must also pay over $1,600 in fines and costs.
He was placed on probation for two years and given an eight month jail sentence on the fleeing charge. In the home invasion case, Martin got a ten month jail sentence and two years probation. He credited with 172 days already served in jail. The two sentences are to run concurrently.
Martin was apprehended March 31, 2017 by the Branch County Sheriff’s Department following a vehicle and foot pursuit in Kinderhook Township.
Branch County Sheriff John Pollack said at the time of Martin’s arrest that thousands of dollars worth of property had been recovered and that the crimes may have covered three states.
According to Indiana online court records, Martin was free on bond at the time of his arrest after he was charged with breaking and entering in Steuben County.
