COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners turned down the reclassification of employees in the County Clerk, Prosecutor, Treasurer and Circuit Court offices Tuesday.
Commissioner Teri Norris said during last Thursday’s work session that all of the affected employees met six of the ten criteria for reclassification that was developed by the finance committee.
Norris said while she and the other commissioners would like to see the employees get higher wages, she raised several financial concerns the county is facing during Tuesday’s regular meeting.
She mentioned the major water leak at the Branch County Jail over the New Year’s holiday weekend, the issues with the elevator at the Branch County Courthouse and the county airport as well as pensions.
