COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The owners of the Wings Etc. Restaurant on Coldwater’s east side are scheduled to come before the city’s Zoning Board of Appeals Wednesday to seek a variance on the amount of signage they can put up on the property.
Harrison Investment Properties wants to install 367 square feet of total signage for the restaurant at 599 East Chicago.
The zoning code limits the total area of site signage to 200 square feet.
The restaurant owners feel the building is not visible from the road. They and the corporate office also feel the sign on the southwest face of the building will help people see the direction to drive.
But the City of Coldwater Neighborhood Services Department staff is recommending the variance request be turned down because the site’s access and visibility is similar to several other nearby sites. In addition, they feel the applicant will have the chance to install ample signage once signs that don’t comply with city zoning ordinances are removed.
