MENDON, MI (WTVB) – Michigan State Police are reminding residents to call authorities if they come across suspicious trash, after some children discovered what turned out to be a methamphetamine lab near Wakeman and River Run Roads in St. Joseph County’s Mendon Township Saturday.
The children brought the trash home with them. The parents then contacted police dispatch.
Specially trained troopers spent several hours processing the hazardous scene.
While they were there, a suspicious vehicle sped away after seeing the troopers. The driver was not connected to the investigation but was found to be drunk. St. Joseph County Sheriff’s deputies later arrested the driver for operating while intoxicated.
