COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In girls high school basketball, the Coldwater Lady Cardinals jumped out to a 25-5 first quarter lead and cruised to a 70-23 victory over Jackson Lumen Christi. The game got so lopsided, a running clock was used in the fourth quarter once the Cardinals got their lead up to 40 points.
Olivia Foley led a balanced Coldwater attack with 12 points. Malorie Rzepka added 11 points while Carlee Crabtree and Jamie Wellet both scored 10 points. Wellet also had six rebounds. Cris Fontecha and Emilee Smoker each had four points and five assists.
Coldwater is now 10-1 overall and 4-1 in the Interstate 8 which leaves them in a tie for first with Jackson Northwest and Harper Creek.
Coldwater won the JV game 37-16 as they improved to 8-4. Autumn Sunderland had nine points and five rebounds. Mia Rzepka added six points.
Olivet defeated Coldwater in the freshman game 56-25. Madison Beckhusen had nine points while Abby Herman had 11 rebounds and Marissa Cox had five steals.
