COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater won its sixth consecutive game, beating Hastings 57-29 at the Coach Floyd Eby Gymnasium. The Cardinals led after the first quarter 11-5 and outscored the Saxons in the middle two quarters 43-17 to put the game away. Gage McGuire led all scorers with 25 points and 5 rebounds for Coldwater. Brady Beckhusen scored 10, Dylan Targgart had 8 points and 8 rebounds, and Brent Smoker, our McDonald’s Player of the Game, had 4 points, 3 assists, and a team-high 5 steals. The Cardinals improve to 7-1 overall, 5-1 in the Interstate 8.
BRONSON, MI – Quincy defeated Bronson 74-49 on Hall of Fame Night for the Vikings. Bronson led 21-11 after one quarter, but the Orioles used a 29-7 second quarter to give themselves a lead they would not relinquish the rest of the night. William Dunn had a game-high 21 points and 6 rebounds, while Bryce Ruhl had a double-double with 17 points and 10 boards. Caleb McCavit had 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists, and Matthew Hagaman scored 10 as the Orioles improve to 6-2 overall, 4-1 in the Big 8. Wyatt Heal had 11 points to lead Bronson, while Ethan Cossairt added 9; the Vikings drop to 6-3 overall, 2-3 in the Big 8.
UNION CITY, MI – Union City dropped a 48-36 decision to Reading at the McNett Fieldhouse. The Chargers fall to 3-5 overall, 1-4 in the Big 8.
