COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – One of two drug suspects arrested last May during a Coldwater Police Department undercover investigation was sentenced on Monday to a prison term of 51 months to 20 years.
34-year-old Joseph Michael Bicknell of Quincy was sentenced in Branch County Circuit Court after he entered a guilty plea to delivery or manufacturing crystal methamphetamine.
He got a lengthy prison term due to his previous record.
In exchange for his plea. prosecutors dismissed two other charges for driving while his license was suspended.
The other defendant in the case is 36-year-old Lantz Banford Brown of Angola, Indiana who was charged with delivering or manufacturing crystal methamphetamine and being in possession of marijuana.
Court documents indicate the arrests took place after a confidential informant made a $60 controlled meth buy at the Coldwater Wal Mart store and police stopped a vehicle driven by Bicknell since they had information he was driving while his license was suspended. Brown was a passenger in the vehicle.
Police say they found meth and marijuana during a search.
Bicknell was given credit for 18 days already served.
