BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – In girls high school basketball, Coldwater won a a battle of Interstate 8 co-leaders as they defeated Harper Creek 45-27. Jamie Wellet and Samantha Rodesiler combined to hold Harper’s leading scorer, Faith Hayes, to a season low of four points to lead the defensive charge.
McDonald’s Player of the Game Tyler Scheid had a huge night with 15 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists , and 2 steals. Carlee Crabtree added 11 points, five rebounds and four assists.
Coldwater improves their record to 12-1 and remains tied with Jackson Northwest atop the I-8 with 6-1 records.
Coldwater is just outside of the top ten in Class A once again this week in the latest Michigan Associated Press Girls Basketball poll. The Cardinals are ranked 11th, just two points behind 10th ranked Farmington Hills Mercy.
Jackson Northwest from the Interstate 8 is ranked fourth in Class B while Pennfield is ranked 12th after getting as high as number three a couple of weeks ago.
Pittsford is tied for tenth in Class C while Springport fell to 12th following their loss to Jonesville last Friday.
Athens at 11-0 is ranked third in Class D.

8th Grade B— Legg 54, Harper Creek 8 Tasha Pike had 16 points while Kaylee McBride and Erica Hurst each had 10 points as the Legg 8th grade B team improved to 3-0.
7th Grade A— Harper Creek defeated Legg. No score was provided. Brooklyn Kerry led Legg with 11 points, five rebounds and three steals.
