COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School in Coldwater got a big financial boost Saturday night, as over $63,500 was raised for the school with their 19th Annual Mardi Gras Auction.
Organizers say over 300 people attending the event brought in $51,248 with activities during the evening, including a cash raffle, 50/50, card game, head tails game, tv raffle, silent and live auction, and bar sales. With an additional $12,340 in cash donations for assisting with sponsorship of packages, the gross amount raised was just over $63,500.
St. Charles Principal Brenda Mescher says a few of the highest items in the live auction included Picnic with the Priests, at St. Charles Rectory, coming in at $1000, Disney/Florida condo coming in at $2000, Mancave handmade bar and accessories at $1000, and the ending item, Fr.’s Wallet (stuffed with goodies and a piggy bank of cash) went for $2000.
During the Mardi Gras event and in the week preceeding they had a total $8200 given for tuition assistance through the Angel Tuition program from various donors. That money will be used for scholarships during the 2018-19 school year.
