BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson Fire Department was notified of a blaze at a downtown building in an unusual way Monday: in person. Firefighters say they were alerted to the fire at 130 West Chicago Street by the renter, who came knocking at their door just before 11:15 a.m.
The woman told fire officials that a fire broken out in her second floor apartment just before 11:15 a.m. The apartment is located right around the corner from the fire department.
Firefighters were greeted by heavy smoke when they arrived. They were able to put the fire out quickly. It had originated on a stove in the kitchen.
Firefighters opened up windows to clear the building of smoke. Crews were on scene for approximately 45 minutes.
There were no injuries. The Bronson Police Department, Branch County Sheriff’s Department, and Consumers Energy also responded to the scene.
