COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – After winning ten straight games, the Coldwater High School boys varsity basketball team has dropped two straight. Coldwater was outscored 21-8 in the second quarter as they were defeated by Michigan Center 73-55 in the Battle of the Cardinals Tuesday night at the Coach Floyd Eby Gymnasium.
Michigan Center hit nine shots from beyond the arc as they improved to 11-1.
Gage McGuire scored a game-high19 points for Coldwater while Dylan Targgart had 16 points and 10 rebounds and Brady Beckhusen had 11 points. Coldwater’s record dropped to 11-3.
Coldwater rallied to win the JV game 45-42 in overtime after they came back from a eight point deficit in the final 90 seconds of regulation. Tyler Scherer hit the game tying field goal with as time expired to force overtime. He led Coldwater with 17 points and nine rebounds while Jaxon Janusz had 11 points.

Jonesville won the battle for first place in the Big 8 Conference. They are in first with a 8-1 conference record. Kiana Mayer led the Vikings with 17 points. Bronson drops to 6-2 in the conference and 9-4 overall.

Madison Hinds led the Orioles with 12 points and nine rebounds. Quincy drops to 4-5 in the Big 8 and 8-6 overall

Allison Adams led Union City with 18 points while Autumn Carpenter had seven rebounds. The Chargers are now 1-8 in the Big 8 and 5-10 overall
