COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County District Court Judge Brent Wiegle sided with a defense argument and granted a motion hearing in the misdemeanor cases of former Quincy superintendent Craig Artist and high school principal David Spaulding Tuesday.
Spalding’s attorney Bill Renner said during a pre trial conference that he was dealing with two conflicting police reports. It looks like the cases are heading to trial. Scott Smith from the Branch County Prosecutors Office admitted the cases are not resolvable.
The defense attorneys are hoping to eventually be granted an evidentiary hearing.
Spaulding and Artist have been charged with misdemeanor failure to report child abuse in connection with the Jason Ferrell case.
