COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School boys basketball team now control its own destiny in the race for the Interstate 8 championship after the Cardinals defeated Jackson Lumen Christi 63-45 at homeTuesday night and Parma Western lost to Harper Creek 62-52. The Cardinals now lead Parma by one game for first place in the conference and can wrap up the outright I-8 title if they win at Hastings on Friday.
Coldwater used a 19-5 first quarter to establish control of Tuesday’s game with the Titans.
Co-McDonald’s Player of the Game Gage McGuire had a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Dylan Targgart had 14 points and nine rebounds while Brady Beckhusen added 12 points.
Coldwater is now 15-3 overall and 11-2 in the I-8.
Lumen Christi swept the underclassman games. They won the JV game 36-21. Grey Skudlaric led Coldwater with seven points while Jaxon Janusz had six 6 points.
Lumen Christi also won the freshman game 61-40.
