COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School gymnastics team hosted their eighth Annual Stick It For a Cure Invitational Thursday. The meet had to be rescheduled due to a snowstorm two weeks ago.
While not all of the teams were able to attend the make up date, schools from Ann Arbor, Saline and Adrian joined the Cardinal gymnasts for the event.
The Coldwater gymnasts have worked all season to collect donations for the ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital’s Cancer Center. The donations this year are earmarked to purchase Cooling Caps to prevent hair loss in chemotherapy patients.
With the final dollars still rolling in, the tally as of Thursday evening was over $11,000 for this year’s efforts. That brings the Coldwater Gymnastics team’s total donations over the eight years of the event to over $70,000.
As for the meet, Saline took the top honors with a total of 138.875 points. Coldwater posted their highest team score of the season at 129.825 to finish in second. Coldwater had several highlights including four individuals on the awards stand and two individuals clinching their spots for the MHSAA Regional meet.
