COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A late season snowstorm which dumped nearly eight inches of snow in parts of the Detroit area missed Branch County on Thursday. The National Weather Service predicted a four to six inch snowfall and Branch County was included in a Winter Weather Advisory for the afternoon and evening hours.
While Thursday was a miserable day for weather thanks to a cold rain, the heavy snow never materialized in Branch County as temperatures barely stayed above freezing. The heavier amounts of snow fell to the east of Branch County.
There were reports of almost four inches of snow near Moscow in Hillsdale County and at Spring Arbor.
The heavy, wet snow caused nearly 31,000 DTE Energy customers in the Detroit area to lose their power.
Whatever snow fell will likely be gone in a day or two as the forecast is calling for sunshine and highs near 40.
