BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – Bronson won the MHSAA Division 4 Boys Bowling title at M-66 Bowl in Battle Creek by defeating St. Charles 1354-1283 in the championship match. Reigning Division 4 Boys Singles champion Brandon Hyska led the Vikings with a 236 in the regular game, with Bruan Foote rolling a 235. Bronson finished third in the morning qualifying block and advanced to the championship match with wins against Ravenna (1235-1097) and Ishpeming Westwood (1275-1125) in match play. Match play consists of 2 Baker games and 1 regular game.
Bronson’s girls finished fourth in the morning qualifying block, defeated Unionville-Sebawaing (1113-1015) in the match play quarterfinals, but fell to eventual champion Vandercook Lake in the semifinals 1070-1037.
In Division 2 at Super Bowl in Canton, Coldwater’s boys fell just seven pins short in their quest for their first state title. League rival Pennfield defeated the Cardinals 1264-1257 in the championship match. Logan Hunnaman rolled a 207 in the regular game, and Alec Keplinger added a 206.The Cardinal girls finished tied for fifth with Charlotte in the morning qualifying block and lost to Mason by two pins, 1037-1035, in the match play quarterfinal.
In Division 3 at Northway Lanes in Muskegon, Quincy’s girls placed 15th in the morning qualifying block and didn’t advance to the afternoon match play.
The Bowling Finals conclude today with singles competition. Coldwater’s Alec Keplinger, Kaleb Champion, Alysia VanWormer, and Noella Keplinger will compete in Division 2, Quincy’s Cassie White will compete in Division 3, and Bronson’s Brandon Hyska and Ryan Wisman will compete in Division 4.
