CANTON, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater’s Alec Keplinger won the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division Two Boys Individual championship Saturday as he defeated Kyle Vermiyea of Cadillac in the finals 431-325.
After finishing second in the morning qualifying session, Keplinger defeated McLane McCarrick of Eaton Rapids in the Round of 16, Aaron Brown-O’Dell of Sturgis by four pins in the quarterfinals and Cameron Klein of Taylor Kennedy to advance to the finals.
Keplinger was the only Branch County bowler to get to the round of 16. Coldwater’s Noella Keplinger and Alysia VanWormer, Bronson’s Brandon Hyska and Ryan Wisman along Quincy’s Kezia Wilson and Cassie White were unable to get out of the morning session.
