HOMER, MI (WTVB) – Another outstanding season for the Quincy boys basketball team came to an end Friday night as Homer roared back from a 17 point first half deficit to defeat the Orioles 62-59 in the Class C District finals at Homer. Quincy led 40-30 at the half. The Trojans caught fire in the third quarter as they outscored the Orioles 21-11 to tie the game at 51-51. Homer’s Jordan Sherman hit a triple with 53 seconds left to put the Trojans ahead to stay 59-57. Quincy trailed by three and had one last possession but Will Dunn’s three point shot, hit the rim, hit the backboard and hit the rim again before it fell off as the final buzzer sounded. Sherman led the Trojans with 26 points. Dunn scored a game-high 30 points for the Orioles. Quincy finishes the season at 18-5.
Homer advances to Monday’s regional semifinals at Constantine for a 7:15 p.m. game against Cassopolis.
