COLDWATER,M MI (WTVB) -Branch County was not included in the 17 counties that Governor Snyder declared Monday to be a state of disaster following last month’s floods.
The declaration included St. Joseph County as well as Berrien, Cass and Kalamazoo counties and the cities of Grand Rapids and Lansing.
The declaration makes more state money available for recovery efforts in those areas and also authorizes the state police Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division to do more to help those areas.
Affected municipalities may now also apply to be reimbursed for the money they spent addressing flooding issues or for ten percent of their operation budget from last year.
