COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) -The Branch County Register of Deeds office says they registered the highest amount of revenue in 14 years during 2017.
Their annual report was accepted by Branch County Commissioners Tuesday.
Register of Deeds Nancy Hutchins reported that generated revenue came in at over $418,000 which was up over $74,000 from 2016. Last year’s revenues exceeded expenses by over $138,000.
There were also 720 more recorded documents than in 2016. The total number was just under 8,600 of which over 1,500 were e-recordings.
Total expenses were up by over $25,000 from the previous year. Of that increase, over $23,000 is attributable to an increase in Employer’s Retirement Contribution expenses which totaled over $44,000.
The office is continuing to work on back indexing. They are now working on 1990 which means they now have over 26 years of recorded documents that are searchable in their computer system.
