FREMONT, IN (WTVB) – A student in Fremont, Indiana was arrested on a misdemeanor Wednesday after the juvenile allegedly made a threat to shoot up the school.
Fremont Police investigated after hearing about the threat while some high school students took part in the nationwide Walk Out to honor the 17 victims of the Florida school tragedy.
In order to assure students were safe, Fremont Police requested assistance from the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office to provide additional law enforcement officers at the school until the situation was resolved.
Officers later found there was no credible threat regarding the safety of the children, staff, or guests at Fremont High School.
The juvenile is facing a charge of False Reporting/Informing and was referred to the Steuben County Probation Department.
