COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Zack Rusk has been named as the new Juvenile Unit Administrator and Referee for Branch County Probate Court.
Rusk was hired after the recent retirement of John Howard, who served Branch County for almost four decades.
Rusk is a Jonesville native. He will close out his private practice and start work for Probate Court around the first of April. Rusk graduated from Jonesville High School in 1991 and obtained his Bachelor of Arts from Albion College in 1995. He attended Thomas M. Cooley School of Law and graduated cum laude in 2011. Following graduation, Rusk returned to his hometown and took an associate position with the firm of Lisznyai & Associates, P.C., the firm which became known as Rusk & Horton, P.C. in January 2015.
Probate Court Judge Kirk Kashian told the Branch County Board of Commissioners in December that he was told by the Michigan Court Administrators Office that Howard was “grandfathered” into his position, and that the position should be filled with an attorney.
